Student and Family Responsibility for Meaningful Engagement in Remote Learning

The State of Montana has a compulsory school attendance law (MCA 20-5-102). Essentially, this law compels parents to send their children to school each day they are healthy and well enough to participate in a full school day. GFPS parents and caregivers understand this responsibility and support regular attendance. The commitment of GFPS's parents and caregivers to the education of their children and youth is exceptional and appreciated, no matter the setting in which education is delivered.
It Looks Different
When lessons are scheduled to be delivered remotely, “attendance” is still required. Teachers track attendance in a variety of ways; completed work and/or technology tools facilitate the confirmation of a student's participation in remote learning. The role of parents and guardians when learning occurs remotely is to ensure their children have the opportunity to continue learning, including the opportunity to seek help when needed.
Remote learning requires that parents and guardians also consider other factors. Specifically, parents and guardians have the responsibility to support their child's meaningful engagement with their studies. The tips and tools offered on this site identify specific actions that can be taken in support of the endeavor to promote continuous learning outside the four walls of a classroom.
